SEWA Bank Saathi Kiranpal Kaur
Kiranpal Kaur from Nabha district had been unemployed and not in the position to travel outside her village for work. This led her into a state of despondency at not being economically self-sufficient. At a time when she was looking for a new start, she was introduced to SEWA Punjab and trained as a Banking Correspondent.She is now helping her community with services like linking Aadhar cards with banks. She also helps elderly people with the disbursal of pension at their doorstep. Prior to her role as a SEWA Bank Saathi, Kiranpalwas not known by many in her community. Since the time she started her work in SEWA she is known by the community members of three villages across her districts as abanking correspondent who provides financial assistance. She is now economically self-reliant and also a more confident woman thanks to this role.
