Narinder Kaur lives in Batala Block, Gurdaspur District. She used to run a shop where she sold bindis, bangles and seasonal items but there was not enough earning for her to sustain hers or her family’s expenses.
Narinder was provided financial literacy training by SEWA Punjab as a Bank Saathi. She now facilitates doorstep delivery of financial services like pension withdrawal, KYC updating, mobile recharges, deposits and so on to a population of around 500 people. She briefs her community on banking services, the importance of PAN cards, AEPS (Aadhar Enabled Payment System) for those who cannot go to bank as well as, Aadhar card updating. As a SEWA Bank Saathi, her income has increased by Rs/- 1000-1500 per month and with the capacity building sessions, her confidence and leadership skills have also improved.
