With an aim to build a national identity of the SEWA movement, SEWA Bharat was established in 1984 as a federation of SEWA organizations across the country. It supports and facilitates the functioning of various SEWA organizations to build women workers’ rights, livelihoods, financial independence, education, and health. . Nationally SEWA Bharat is present in a number of states including West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Delhi to name a few.
Emphasizing governance at the grassroots SEWA Bharat invests in leadership of local communities, helps start and manage institutional development, and provides necessary resources and linkages for local efforts to grow.
